The Fourteen Holy Helpers comprise a group of saints commonly worshipped in the Roman Catholic Church, whose intercession is highly effective mainly against various diseases. The cult of helpers in need was founded for the first time in the Rhineland in the 14th century, perhaps as a consequence of the epidemic later known as the Black Death.
